Traveling to Barbados

Direct flights from the UK take 8 hours from London and a little longer from Manchester. Some flights are not direct and can go via Antigua, which can add
another 90 minutes to your journey.

Scheduled flights from the UK include British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, who both fly everyday. Both Airlines have regular sales to the Caribbean, which can offer good value flight prices at certain times of the year. British West Indian Airways (BWIA) also runs a scheduled service from Heathrow 3 days a week, but is often more expensive than B.A and Virgin.

Charter companies such as Excel airways, JMC and My Travel have flights on set days. Excel fly from Gatwick via Manchester, which makes a longer journey, but you can often get some very good deals.

Flying via the US is an option on American Airlines to New York or Miami and then taking a connecting flight to Barbados.

We have used ITC Classics. They have contracts with Virgin, B.A and BWIA and often get better priced flights than booking direct with the airline. They also have airport lounges at Gatwick and Barbados, which you are entitled to use when booking through them. Call Emma Cheetham on 01244 355305 / 355303 or 0870 751 9303. You will need to mention that you are staying with us in Art Studios.

If you hold a British Passport, you do not need a visa to travel to Barbados, but you will have to complete a registration card that the airline will provide.
There are no compulsory vaccinations needed, although you should always consult your G.P for advice before travelling.
When you leave the airport, you will be inundated with offers of taxis. If you do need a taxi, then you should use the official taxi stand that is directly outside the arrivals building. You will get a better price using these.
When leaving Barbados you are required to pay a departure tax of $25 BBD per person. This can be done when you check in, but needs to be in cash..
